Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.

I hope you're all with family and friends, and will be stuffed to your tapeworm's content. Mine is especially fond of the high-carb foods on this day of feasting.

Mrs. Coob, Perro de Coob, and I will be participating in the Turkey Trot in a couple of hours. It's become "our thing" to do here in Austin. It allows me to not feel guilty about eating and eating and eating when I've already participated in a 5 Mile Walk/Run in the morning.

Again, I hope you and yours have a great day.

Con Law

And then there was one. Class that is. Actually there are two, but one is Legal Research and Writing so it doesn't really count.

Yesterday was the last day of Con Law. This class was the hardest of this semester. I came into school looking forward to this class. The geeky, political animal in me was expecting something different than what we got. At any rate, there were times when I felt I had been violated in a dropped-the-soap-in-prison kind of way, but there were other times when I felt like I was Johnny On The Spot. I was en fuego. But I was also frio more times than not. The highs and lows of law school. Gotta love it.

This class ate up so much time. Reading and preparing for this class was what I envisioned law school to be like. Reading a page and not knowing what the hell was going on. Spending 30 mins to re-read said page. Going into class thinking I knew what was going on, only to quickly learn what I dumbass I was for even thinking I knew what I thought I knew. I'm just glad my other classes weren't even remotely like this one (reading and preparing wise).

As much work as this class required, it's actually turned out to be one of my favs. It's a close second behind Property.

Still, I'm glad it's over. Now, if only I could find the discipline to complete the outline of/for it...

Done and done

The Property outline is done. And only a week behind the "In a Perfect World" timeline.

The Property class finished (for the semester) last week (on the 12th). We'd met for four days a week instead of the usual three, so we were able to finish the semester early, which I think is a great thing. I figured I'd outline Property first since it's "fresh" in my mind and it's also the last final I'll have. I'll do Con Law next and Contracts last, which'll dovetail right into the final, which happens to be my first one.

I'll start my Con Law outline manana and work on it all week. This class finishes early, too. Our last day in there is this coming Tuesday. That'll leave a whole lotta time for Contracts, which I'll need.

Gimme a bottle of anything. And a glazed donut. To go!

How awesome is this?

Diamond Dave's training to be a paramedic.

I wonder he'll be allowed to wear his spandex pants. Also, do you think he'll be able to have some of those California Girls riding with him?

1984 is still one of the best albums of the 80s, with one of the all time great album covers...that kid smoking the cig? Classic. And who could forget the video for Hot For Teacher?

There oughta be a law

There oughta be a law that prohibits dissenting opinions from being as long as or longer than the majority opinion. This law should also apply to concurring opinions.

Go forth and make it so.

1/9 of the SCOTUS is in Austin

Justice Scalia is in Austin this afternoon to swear in the newest Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, Wallace Jefferson.

Welcome to Austin, Justice Scalia. We hope you enjoy your visit. Come visit us in Con Law...we can enlighten you about the rights of ferrets. Evidently those rights are not fundamental.

Veterans Day

So some ABC affiliates are refusing to air Saving Private Ryan. I don't really get this...especially since these same stations have aired the movie in the past. Can someone please 'splain this to me like I'm a two year old?

I'm not sure if the Austin station is part of this group, actually I think it is...I think I read somewhere that BELO is part of this...anyhow, I'll just pop the movie into the dvd player tonight and watch it commericial free. And then maybe I'll watch The Dirty Dozen, The Great Escape, and Flying Leathernecks.

To veterans who read this blog, and those who don't- Thank you.

Don't pay the ransom

Don't pay the ransom, I'm here.

The Property Paper was turned in this morning. The weekends are now free of weddings, bachelor parties, and hosting family.

Maybe this will mean more free time for blogging, or maybe more time for studying. I guess at some point I should start outlining my classes.

Let's see, since we last spoke we've had an election...I won't comment on it, because at this point and time I'd prefer to leave politics out of this. There many websites out there that say what I think and feel. And they do it a heck of a lot better than I ever could.

At any rate, we've had an election. My best friend has gotten hitched- again. I've taken a midterm in LRW, and as mentioned above I turned in a paper this morning. There was a hell of a game this past weekend here in Austin. And I've seen the teaser trailer for the new Star Wars movie. Looks pretty cool. Can't wait to see it.

Overall, life is good. I have no complaints.
